1. Planning a media video of fishing coochiemudlo island
Just wondering where some decent landbased spots are and what baits wnd rigs would be most effective? and what fish species i may encouter?
Regards
LJ - LJ
September 07 2010 I don't know any land based spots on Coochie - at this time of year you'd be chasing whiting with bloodworms and snapper with hardiheads o similar baits. You need to fish as light as possible. let the bait waft around not anchor it. [Back To Top]
2. hi dave, i would like to buy a rod and reel for whiting fishing. what would you suggest me to buy. im on a budget of around $60-$80. so any suggestions on what i should buy? thanks - tai pham
September 05 2010 Go to BCF Labradore on a weekend and ask for Youngy - he will be able to advise you. I'd be looking at a 9ft rod in the 4kg class with a very soft tip. You may have to go with a small spinning reel on that budget or a 5inch Alvey if you stretch it a bit. Make sure you say what reel you are putting on the rod as there are different rods for different style reels. [Back To Top]
3. Do you know of any locations around Bris for collecting cabbage weed? We used to get it around the boat ramp at Fisherman's island. Is it still available?
Thanks mate. - Vani Soter
August 31 2010 You can still get weed around Fisherman's Island but it has been hard to get in any quantity this year. Also the old Wynnum tip site - walk out to the end of the boardwalk around the wreck. Jetties are another place to try. [Back To Top]
4. Nugget,
You used to have some fishing ringtones on your site but with the redesign of the page they have disappeared - as did the ones I'd downloaded before my mobile took a dive. Do you still have them somewhere? - Tangles_48
August 30 2010 No sorry I don't - deleted some time ago. A new site will be uploaded in the next few months - I'll see if I can get the ringtones again. [Back To Top]
5. Mate my name is John and I'm new to fishing. I've got a Rod and a Reel and am fishing of the Rocks on Bondi Beach with a Rubber looking Fish. I have spent hours casting and casting and losing and soon losing it. Where am I going wrong?

August 30 2010 The lure you are using is better suited to more experienced angler, you need to learn how to make it 'work' - give it action. If you want to use lures, change over to a 3 or 4 inch long chrome lure which is a little easier to use as you just wind it in. Or better still, use bait untill you get a fish under your belt.
